Eighth Grade Physical Education CurriculumThe 8th grade curriculum is designed to have students apply and develop new and previously learned skill sets, and use these as the foundation in a variety of units. There will be an emphasis on team sports and students will be focusing on working together. In accordance with the California State Standards students will demonstrate motor skills and movement patterns, knowledge of movement concepts, and students will apply knowledge of psychological and sociological concepts, principles, and strategies that apply to the learning and performance of physical activity. |
GRADING PROCEDUREGrading is determined by attendance, work ethic, and completion of all assessments. Daily participation will follow a profile relating to behavior, performance and social interaction. The letter grades (A, B, C, D) represent varying degrees of quality of an individual student’s performance relating to learning objectives. Students earn 5 point per day of instruction, 2 points for dressing out, 2 points for participation and 1 point for behavior. DAILY PROGRESS MONITORING

COURSE OBJECTIVEThe students will learn through verbal instruction, observational skills, view instructional videos, use video analysis of performance, and listen to lectures on current and activity related topics. By the end of each unit students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of content through performance, written assignments, and skill analysis. STUDENT ACCOUNTABILITY
